Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital welcomes new primary care sports medicine physician

Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Haris Vakil, primary care sports medicine physician, to its team this month. He joins the leading specialists at Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine at Clear Lake, bringing specialized care tailored to meet the diverse needs of patients in Clear Lake area and surrounding communities.

 

Vakil’s personal experience as a former student athlete fuels his dedication to managing orthopedic conditions and helping individuals lead active, healthy lives. “Having been on the receiving end of sports-related injuries, I understand the unique challenges faced by active individuals,” Dr. Vakil said. “My goal is to help patients overcome injuries, maintain an energetic lifestyle and stay abreast of the latest advancements in personalized care.”

Vakil’s practice focuses on the medical care and non-operative orthopedic care of athletes and active people. His advanced treatment expertise includes musculoskeletal ultrasound, guided joint injections and platelet-rich plasma therapy. His credentials include a fellowship in primary care sports medicine, board certification in family medicine and a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine. He completed his medical education and family medicine residency at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he served as chief resident, and furthered his expertise with a primary care sports medicine fellowship at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital.

 

His professional affiliations include the American Academy of Family Physicians, American College of Sports Medicine, American Medical Association, American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and the Texas Medical Association.
