Two board-certified neurologists have joined the staff at Houston Methodist Neurology Associates-Clear Lake, bringing the group to three physicians and expanding the level of service available to Bay Area patients.
Bingzhong Chen, M.D., Ph.D., joined Dr. Vijayakumar in June in Medical Office Building 1 at 2060 Space Park Drive, Suite 104, on the Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital campus.
Chen has a broad range of clinical expertise with a focus on treating headaches/migraines, epilepsy, vertigo, stroke, neuropathy, and movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and dyskinesia.
He earned his medical degree from Fujian Medical University, Fuzhou, Fujian, in China before completing his Ph.D. in neuroscience at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
“The key to solving many neurological diseases is listening to the patient and conducting thorough physical examinations,” said Chen. “I spend a great deal of time listening to and examining my patients, seeking to understand their unique medical histories and current symptoms.”
Gunjun Narwani, M.D., joined the team in July at her new office in Medical Office Building 2 on the Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital campus at 18100 Houston Methodist Dr., Suite 240.
Narwani provides hands-on, compassionate care across a broad range of neurological disorders, with a special emphasis on epilepsy and sleep medicine.
She earned her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit before completing a residency at St. John Hospital and Medical Center, also in Detroit, and an internship at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center. From there, she completed two fellowships, one at the Cleveland Clinic Epilepsy Center in Ohio and another at the Stanford University Sleep Medicine Center in Redwood, Calif.
“I am excited about the opportunity to serve patients from across the Bay Area who are dealing with neurological conditions,” said Narwani. “I take great pride in developing strong relationships with my patients and working together with them to develop treatment regimens that provide clear ongoing benefits.”
Narwani comes to Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital from practice in Kingwood. She previously held a joint position on the staff of the Central California Faculty Medical Group and as an assistant clinical professor at UCSF-Fresno.
