Memorial Hermann Health System proudly announces that Lori Knowles, Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, has been named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s list of ‘Hospital and Health System CHROs and Chief People Officers to Know’ for the second consecutive year.
This recognition acknowledges leading human resources executives for their pivotal role in developing and executing human capital strategies essential to the success of their hospitals and health systems.
A key advocate for employee-centric workforce strategies, Lori championed an approach new to the Memorial Hermann Health System that would prove transformative: the Well Together Human Capital Strategy. This strategic initiative expanded the System’s investment in the health and well-being of its workforce, with the organization committing to creating safe, personalized and rewarding experiences for its employees as well as for its patients and their families. This transition played a key part in creating Memorial Hermann’s culture of compassion and reinforcing its deep respect for all members of the community it serves.
In recent years, Memorial Hermann has undertaken an ambitious goal to transform our collective future: to enable the entire health care system to create more value for patients and populations; that is, delivering the greatest outcomes at an optimal cost, creating exceptional experiences for its patients and a fulfilling work environment for its workforce – the System’s greatest and most indispensable asset.
Lori’s most significant role in this strategic transformation has been to continue supporting Memorial Hermann’s workforce – with initiatives developed because of her understanding that building healthier communities starts by ensuring a healthy, supportive environment for health care workers. Under her leadership, Memorial Hermann has seen year-over-year improvements in retention and turnover rates across Memorial Hermann’s 270 care delivery sites, a significant decrease in the use of contract labor and the recognition and admiration of the System’s more than 34,000 employees and almost 7,000 clinical care professionals.
