Baylor College of Medicine awarded $3.7 million in new wave of state cancer funding

Researchers from the NCI-designated Dan L. Duncan Cancer Center at Baylor College of Medicine have received an additional $3.7 million in research grants in the newest round of funding announced by the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas.

These newest awards bring Baylor’s total CPRIT funding to more than $110 million since the institute began awarding cancer grant funding to organizations throughout Texas in January 2010.

The new awards include:

  • Dr. David Poplack, director of the Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Centers and deputy director of the Duncan Cancer Center at Baylor, received a $2,220,472 multi-investigator research grant to study targeted therapies for metastatic osteosarcoma.
  • Dr. Jeffrey Rosen, the Charles C. Bell Professor in Cell Biology at Baylor, received a $1,574,628 continuation grant for a comprehensive cancer training program at Baylor.
