Vice President of UTMB Health Angleton Danbury Campus announces retirement

David A. Bleakney, vice president and administrator of the UTMB Health Angleton Danbury Campus, recently announced his retirement effective March 31, 2016.

Bleakney, administrator and CEO for the hospital for more than 22 years, leaves a legacy that has included the hospital district’s notable growth and expanded health care s e r v i c e s throughout the community.

“'Friends and Neighbors Caring for Friends and Neighbors' has been a cornerstone phrase in the mission and vision for the Angleton hospital’s success and one that Dave coined years ago,” said Melba Beken, Angleton Danbury Hospital Districts’ chairwoman and board member of 21 years.

Bleakney’s vision and strong leadership led to many accomplishments, including the acquisition of 27 acres adjacent to the hospital and a $22 million expansion in 2006 that raised the bar of health care in southern Brazoria County. His clear-cut decision to seek opportunities to ensure a sustainable health care system in the midst of national health care uncertainties led the way for Angleton Danbury Medical Center to join the UTMB Health System. Bleakney is also actively involved in local civic organizations, serving as a board director for the Greater Angleton Chamber, the Brazosport College Foundation, and the Angleton Rotary Club.

Katrina Lambrecht became vice president and administrator of the Angleton Danbury Campus in early January and will report to Donna Sollenberger, executive vice president and CEO of the UTMB Health System. In addition, Lambrecht will continue her leadership with the Medicaid 1115 Waiver.

“Katrina Lambrecht is uniquely qualified for this position,” said Sollenberger. “Her depth of knowledge about UTMB Health, her leadership role in the transition of the Angleton Danbury Hospital to UTMB Health, plus her work in the community, combine to make her an ideal individual to lead the Angleton Campus at this time. Ms. Lambrecht is committed to community hospitals and the role they play in strengthening the community.”

Bleakney will work to transition his duties to Lambrecht and will report directly to Donna Sollenberger to assist in the completion of a comprehensive market assessment of the Brazoria County market.
