St. Joseph Medical Center has announced the opening of its new Women’s Center for Breast Care. The new Center, located in the Susan K Strake Building on St. Joseph’s downtown campus at 1401 St. Joseph Parkway, provides comprehensive, state-ofthe- art breast screening and diagnostic services.
“The Women’s Center for Breast Care is the only one of its kind conveniently located in downtown Houston,” stated Phillip Robinson, CEO of St. Joseph Medical Center. “In addition to the wide spectrum of services available today for the diagnosis of breast cancer, our new breast center has an expert medical staff specializing in diseases of the breast,” Robinson concluded.
Among the comprehensive services offered at The Women’s Center for Breast Care are digital mammography, breast ultrasound, breast molecular imaging and stereotactic needle biopsy. The Center has dedicated staff specializing in diseases of the breast and utilizes Computer-Aided Detection (CAD) system for the early detection of breast cancer on mammograms. The Second Look ® Digital system from iCAD highlights potential areas of concern, providing the radiologist a “second view” when reading a mammogram. This innovative technology combines state-of-the-art hardware and patented algorithms to identify and clearly mark suspicious areas for a closer look and possible further investigation by the radiologist.
